Rolling conditions in hot strip mills and their influence on the performance of work rolls

چکیده

The mechanical rolling conditions in hot strip mills are precisely defined by various variables, which are taken directly froth the rolling schedule (separation force, torque. speed. strip thickness) or calculated from figures of the rolling schedule and dimensions of the mill (strip reduction, roll diameter etc.). These variables allow to describe the mechanical rolling conditions of all passes in roughing and finishing mills. These variables should be supplemented by the metallurgical rolling conditions. They then give basic information on the conditions which determine wear (specific load, wear speed) and firecrazing (co-efficient of heat penetration etc.). There is a good chance to use the experiences of other mills with various roll grades by analog comparison as long as the rolling conditions are similar. This method is limited by "abnormal rolling conditions", which require totally different roll grades. although if it would be much better to eliminate the abnormal conditions.

Evaluation of Thermo-mechanical stress in work rolls of ring rolling mill under thermal and mechanical loading

The defect in work rolls directly influence the forming cost and the final shape of the product. The researchers tend to investigate the thermo-mechanical stress in work roll of rolling machines. These stresses may reduce the roll life. Since the investigation of the thermo-mechanical stress in work roll with real-conditions is complex, comprehensive studies by means of numerical methods are av...

Using Experimental Procedure to Improve the Efficiency of the Two Stand Reversing Cold Mill

Production of thin steel strips with 0.18-0.26 mm thickness is about 0.75 of annual production of the two stand reversing cold mill, while its efficiency is 60%. This is due to the fact that after montaging the grinded work rolls, rolling thin steel strips (with thicknesses less than 0.18 millimeters) is unavailable. Initially, unsuitable surface roughness, the friction between rolls and the st...

Effect of Composition on the Recrystallization Behavior of if Steels During Simulated Hot Strip Rolling

Flow curves are generated in muti-pass torsion tests for a titanium stabilized and a niobium stabilized IF steel. Two types of test schedule are used, one based on plate rolling and the other approximating strip rolling. The purpose of the former is to define the three critical temperatures of steel rolling. The strip schedules are varied in order to investigate the influence of increasing the ...

Prediction of Work Roll Initial Crown according to Desired Strip Profile in Hot Rolling

The final hot strip profile is a superposition of the roll initial crown, the roll bending and flattening crown, the roll wearing crown and the roll thermal crown. In this research, linear regression models are proposed to predict the roll force, the roll wearing crown and the roll thermal crown using experimental data provided by Mobarake Steel Complex (MSC). The short beam theory based on ela...
